NORTH WEST DRILLING | Water Bore Drilling
Having a water bore drilled on your property
While drilling and constructing a water bore that suits your needs, there a many factors to take into consideration.
Some of those are :
- Groundwater quality
- Quantity
- Depth
- The geology in your area
- The cost of the overall project
Please see our "water bore permit" page and you will find some links to helpful websites to do some of your own groundwater research.
Besides the above points, some other factors to consider when choosing drill sites are:
Access for the drilling equipment, ability to handle drill spoil/waste, available nearby water supply, underground and overhead services, easements, nearby waterways, nearby effluent runoff etc.

Protecting our Groundwater
One thing that some people may overlook is the importance of protecting the water supply. This is the single most important part of any groundwater project and it should not be taken lightly.
As drillers we have a responsibility to construct bores in a way that prevents contamination of the groundwater resource and protects it for future generations.
To further protect the water supply as best we can, we normally try to recommend a pumping rate that will not "over pump" or deplete the bore water over time.
Keeping to the recommended pump rate will also help to keep the bore running for many, many years without an issue.
All our bores are constructed according to the "Minimum Construction Requirements For Water Bores In Australia Edition 3" as specified by your relevant water authority.
A water bore can drought proof your home or business, and provide your property with clean, contaminant free water
One of the most common comparisons when deciding to drill a bore is the Dam vs Bore debate.
In our experience stock will almost always choose the trough with tasty, minerally bore water over the dam water. In the height of summer, the dams can get so smelly and muddy and can even harbour disease.
Having the bore and troughs will potentially keep the stock in much healthier condition. It will also keep the dam cleaner and looking much better aesthetically. The dam water will then become more readily available for gardens, wildlife, fire fighting, etc.
Variety and options:
With all this in mind you should have a range of available water supply's to truly drought proof your property.
This might include a bore, dams, good tank capacity and if available mains water supply. Having the bore as the only water supply on the property should be avoided if possible.
